It was a Dark and Stormy Night…

It was a dark and stormy night, they were driving back to Jake’s place after his baseball game.  They lost to their rivals, Jane knew he was angry and not to speak.  But she wanted to say something, they were taking the shortcut home, the shortcut they were told not to take.  They always heard the stories about this road through the woods.

The woods were haunted and people have seen scary things.  Some have even heard and seen ghosts go across the street.  They weren’t the type of people to believe in the stories until they came to a stop in the road.

Jane could feel her heart beating out of her chest as they passed the “No Trespassing” sign.  As she opened her mouth to speak, the engine made a weird noise and smoke filled the air, adding to the creepy atmosphere of the woods.

Jack said “Let me see what’s going on.”  Jane yelled “No, don’t get out of the car!”  Jack opened the door as one foot steps out.  Then another foot as he closes the door.  He yells to see if anyone is in the smoke.  The fogginess has him lost for sight as something crawls across his foot.  No light, smoke getting heavier, he leans to get closer to the ground.  Jane looks and she can’t see him.  She tries to find him but felt a liquid.  She finds her phone in her pocket and turns on the light to shine on the ground.  Her eyes go big as the light follows the blood to where Jake is laying and taps him with her foot.  She leans toward the head head with the light when she finds their pet squirrel, Ralph, chewing on his head.

She didn’t know how he got their.  She dropped to her knees crying and screaming.  Until Ralph transformed into a masked man with a chainsaw.  Her last thought was “I guess the stories are true.”
